Our Eighth Charity Open water swim will take place at Bowmoor Lake near Lechlade on Saturday 1st August 2026.

The event will be hosted again this year by Olympic medallist, Cassie Patten.

The swim will raise funds, through the Lions, to support local youth and health care services and some swimmers will be specifically raising funds for Combat Stress, a charity supporting military veterans.

Cassie will give free tips and techniques on the day for swimmers of all levels.

Last year the event raised over £4000 for charity and attracted over 140 swimmers from as far away as Wales and County Durham.

Last year, the 3k race was won by Lucy Blacker in the amazing time of 48 mins 23 seconds. She won a clean sweep of the awards - fastest overall swimmer, fastest female swimmer, and fastest under 18 swimmer!

The lake, ‘one of the best private lakes in the Costwolds’ has kindly been made available once again by Bowmoor Sailing Club, a fellow Business Connect member.

The event is open to all, and swimmers can reserve their places by clicking on the “Buy Tickets” link at the bottom of this page. Numbers are limited to 140 so please register early to avoid disappointment. Registration closes at 6.00pm on 31st July and it will not be possible to register on the day of the race. We will accept swimmers from 12 years of age but those under 18 must have a signed parental consent form.

On the 1st August, all registered swimmers will be able to check in at 8.00am.

The events comprise a 3k race at 9.00am; 1k, 2k, 3k challenge events from 10.30am; and a 250m taster session for beginners.

All swimmers will benefit from Cassie’s tips and techniques sessions on the day at no extra cost.

The event will close by 14.00.

Family and friends are welcome to come for free - there is plenty of free parking.

Catering will be laid on and participants, volunteers, spectators and supporters are encouraged to stay afterwards for lunch and a relaxing social time.
